2018 Ford Mustang 1000 Hp
But it's not coming to North America
The Ford Mustang has to be one of the most iconic American sports cars of all time, and Ford is making it easier than ever to own one, but what if the base model or even the GT Coupe is too plain? If you live in Australia, Ford has the answer for you: the Scott McLaughlin Edition. With the next-generation Mustang a priority for Ford, special editions are popping up all over the place to keep the flame alive, and this hot Mustang is one of the better ones on the road. Named after Scott Thomas McLaughlin, a New Zealand professional racing driver competing in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship and IndyCar, this car packs a serious punch under the hood and looks pretty cool too.

McLaughlin and Australian tuning garage Herrod have teamed up to deliver one of the meanest Mustangs the Southern hemisphere has ever seen. This car is based off of the 5.0-liter V8 GT and adds a boatload of power to the wheels via a Whipple supercharger with improved internals, a larger and more efficient intercooler, a larger throttle body, high capacity fuel injectors and a high flow fuel pump amongst others. The end result is a power output of 764 horsepower and 597 lb-ft of torque.
"We started development with a base GT with Magnaride suspension only," said Rob Herrod. "The key thing is the Whipple supercharger, which is a world first. It looks like a regular Whipple, but internally it is completely different. The key is the throttle response, but it also makes big number," he concluded.

The car also features adjustable sway bars on the suspension side, 20-inch wheels wrapped in 275/30 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber at the front, and 305/30 tires at the back, a cat back stainless steel exhaust, and exterior mods such as a larger front and rear spoiler, and front canards. The interior gets unique leather upholstery and an Alcantara steering wheel.
"It's a phenomenal package. Any supercar driver would love to have their name on a car like this, and I had Rob Herrod to handle all the heavy lifting. I've always wanted a racy red car with black wheels. And now I've got it," said McLaughlin. Cool as it might be, don't expect this special edition 'Stang to reach American shores.
